A little Mrgreen

TBH it's SI/Steam's error (or fault) that's being taken advantage of by others. Why have separate keys for the Beta and full release? In order to get the former you had to buy the latter. Balls up imo.

I can understand different keys for a DEMO and the full release as the two aren't linked.

Just feel a little sorry for those that have been duped - although they must have been pretty gullible to fall for it imo.

There is a way to purge the steam cache. I had a similar issue when I went back to my old lappie.

Try here http://www.howtogeek.com/116225/6-steam-...ting-tips/
100 years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like; but the world may be a little better because I was important in the life of a child.

Steam is wank. Still.

Two and a half hours to update FM17 this morning. Such a slow download speed, in dribs and drabs at that, despite being on superfast fibre optic broadband. Finally finishes and Steam then informs me that Cities: Skyline also needs an update. That will take two days!

FM17 then pops up as needing another update. WTF?

How does this system get to be the market leader?

You can start it in offline mode if you want to play it right away. Then put it back into online mode when you're done so it can get its updates for next time.

The slowness of the downloads may not be steam's fault though. Windows update tends to completely gobble up 99% of your available badwidth sometimes, resulting in a lack of bandwidth for anything else that tries to access the internet. Once it's done, it's back to normal, but it can be very annoying not to be able to just pause it (unless you can be bothered to go into your settings and set your connection to be "metered" in which case windows updates won't be downloaded until you put it back to normal).

Windows updates aren't downloading, I checked that.

I wasn't actually wanting to play the game I just knew there was an update and checked on the progress.

I just don't like Steam and it doesn't like me...

Never had a problem with steam downloads, not sure why they are going so slow for you JP, perhaps ISP has put some throttling in place on them somewhere?

For those who missed the memo, the winter sale has begun yesterday.

Unfortunately, FM2017 is not on offer. And the game I would like to get most (Transport Fever) is only 20% off, which is already was earlier this week. Oh well...
