Or will Britain fall apart and what do you Britts think about it since here on the forums there are members from throughout the Empire?

Personally, I'm not so sure the Scots will vote for independence if they get a referendum.

If they do though, good luck to them. I don't think it really matters to the rest of us tbh - we'd just lose a tennis player and cyclist - that's about it really. Mrgreen

And we'd become almost solely reliant on external sources for gas and oil...

Well they're not going to turn the tap off are they and I doubt very much the Scots let us have it for free as it is. Mrgreen

Apart from anything, there are questions about how much longer their oil fields will last. Production is already in decline.

The big problem with it is that if Scotland goes, we'll be forever fucked as only the Tories will ever be able to get a majority in parliament.

Any referendum in the near future would I think result in the Union being kept. For a while at least, give it a decade or two and it could be a vote for independence.

Yeah, that's true. We'd be stuck in a perpetual Tory nightmare.

I just can't wait for all the little William Wallaces to clear off social media once it's all over.

Given the present state of politics in UK and the identikit career politician at the head of the three main UK (not just Westminster Mr. Salmond) parties it is difficult not to sympathise with the Scots. Given the opportunity I am sure every region of England (outside of Westminster and the Home Counties), Wales and Northern Ireland would wish to divorce itself from politicians whose concentration is centred on the 'City of London' and the financial services industry.

Nevertheless despite our poor political leaders I hope the Scots vote 'No' as I believe in the years to come we will all be better together as a collection of nations. The constitutional fall out of Scotland separating from the rest of UK will effect us all and, for England and Wales, lead to successive Tory governments to further benefit the privileged few.
