England's rugby league team doing a typical England valiant losing performance today. Conceding a try in the dying seconds to lose to New Zealand in the semi finals from a winning position.

Oh well. At least it's only slap and tickle rugby, so basically no one cares. Wink

Not real football or even real rugby, but this evening the South Sydney Rabbitohs lifted their 21st New South Wales Rugby League / Australian Rugby League / National Rugby League premiership. They are the most successful team in the history of the competition.

So why, especially when I was brought up a Parramatta Eels fan, do I bother posting this to the forum?

Well the Rabbitohs won their 20th premiership back in 1971. In 1999, when Rupert Murdoch's News Limited got its grubby tenticles into rugby league here in Australia, News Limited got the Rabbitohs kicked out of the competition. After 2 years of public protests and court challenges, the Rabbitohs were reinstated. Since the 2002 season they have finished in the bottom half of the competition and won the wooden spoon 3 times. In 2012, they finished 3rd in the regular season but were knocked out of the preliminary finals. In 2013, they finished 2nd but were knocked out of the preliminary finals. In 2014, they finished 3rd and tonight they beat the Canterbury Bulldogs 30-4 to win their first premiership in 43 years.

Well done Rabbitohs, and congrats to all the Rabbitoh fans who have stuck with them through thin and thin Golfclap
Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory since Football Manager on Commodore 64!
