Gotta disagree there - Messi is incredibly important to the team around him :|

Ronaldo moreso perhaps, but that's just because he's more of a "give it to me" kind of player.

Ronaldo is a freak. Big, strong, quick, good in the air, good technical ability and all the attributes required to be a top footballer these days.

Messi is a player with great technical ability, and a footballing brain that allows him to play passes and make darting runs in what seems like tiny gaps to take advantage of his speed.

I would love to have either (or both) in my team, but for me Messi is the better technical footballer who is also more of a team player.

How the hell did this happen??? What the chuffing fuck were the voters thinking??

Bale and Zlatan had great years, but seriously. He might not have matched his 2012 form and he might well have had a few injuries, but 42 goals in 45 games speaks for itself really.

I agree with Ronaldo winning the Ballon D'Or, his year was clearly exceptional, but there's no way Messi wasn't the second best player in the world over the course of 2013.
