Winter Olympics
20-02-2014, 08:38 PM
I've been watching the Winter Olympics for the last 10 days or so, and the sports that have really stood out for me have been Snowboard and Ski freestyle and Snowboard and ski cross. I always enjoy watching skeleton and bobsleigh, but the aforementioned sports are mental. In particular ski cross.

If you get a chance to watch the highlights, do it, it's fricking awesome!

I've been watching them too. Quite enjoyed the curling to be honest, even if I haven't got a fucking clue what's going off. Lol

Yeah the curling's always good to have on in the background. Foreground when the Canadian women were playing, and it was Kaitlyn Lawes' turn. Drool

Just had to google her, she's very nice, but she's no Eve Muirhead or Lauren Gray though is she?

I do have a soft spot for Eve Muirhead, and she is the reason I recorded and watched all the British womens matches. When watching the games Kaitlyn is nicer imo, she just doesn't look as nice in the pictures compared to the live footage.

That Anna Sloan's quite a bonny lass in her own right and all.

So we can even make a game like curling a perve-fest. I wouldn't have believed it 12 years ago when Rhona Martin was leading the British team to gold Mrgreen

Women's Ice Hockey final was nuts. Congrats Canada.

Some Soulfusioning needed for the men curlers.

Canada are wiping the ice with us, they are such a good team that they'd have put anyone from any era away.

They're just phenomenal, as were the women yesterday. At least a silver is in the bag which in itself is still quite an achievement. It's like watching Barcelona against Leeds in a playoff final.

Mind, Leeds would bottle the fuck out of it anyway. Lol

Really feel for Elise Christie, she's had a really rough time at these games. After wiping out the field in the 1500m final and being disqualified (and then getting abused by some social media twats online), she then got booted from the 500m for being 1cm outside the line as she crossed the finish well ahead of her opponent.

Tonight she was wiped out by an opponent when placed really well in the 1000m semi final, and hasn't been re-instated. I think she has just cause to believe someone somewhere just doesn't want her to succeed. I hope she becomes one of these great Lazarus type stories we hear of and wins medals in all 3 events at the next Winter Olympics, and all the major championships in between.

She certainly has the talent. Her acceleration speed is unbelievable too - I was watching one of the heats the other night and she just left everyone for dead. It does speak to the cynic inside you though.

Yeah, when she went around the outside of everyone and blew them away was awesome!

Coming down the bobsleigh track head first on nothing more than a tin tray is absolutely bonkers! and we seem to have the top women in the world for it!

I still prefer to see tea on a tray Mrgreen
