Started my fifth season with a 40 and 71 in a 4 day game, before running myself out on 43 in the first Pro 40 game. I'm getting there!

I've wanted to play a good cricket game for ages. Does everyone think its really that good? I ask as I'm considering picking up a second hand console to play this.

Why not get it on PC? £34.99 on Steam, but you can look here for some bargain prices

There was a demo for it on PC last year, but I don't know if it's still available to download.

I personally do think it is the best cricket video game ever, and the posts here seem to back that opinion up.

I'm currently in an opening stand of 132, with my partner being on 99 from just 51 balls! I am on 31 from 77 Mrgreen

The demo is still available through Steam. Still won't work on a Mac though Mrgreen

So when did you become Chris Rogers? And what is it like to bat with Dave Warner? Wink

After 2 rounds of the County Championship I have scored 160 runs at an average of 40, and after 2 rounds of the Pro 40 I have compiled 90 runs, with a 43 followed by a 47. Played a frustrated hack to get out for 47 when the field spread and closed off my hitting zones, when I should really have just nudged the three singles and then reassessed.

EDIT: Kin, it is annoying as hell watching him smash the ball everywhere while I scratch around like a chuck Mrgreen

Last night I was eyeing up a ton, when I got to 91 and tried to play an Ian Bell-esque late cut to the vacant third man boundary. Needless to say I nicked off and was caught by the 'keeper. In the second innings we were chasing 130 to win in the final session, from just 23 overs, but I had eyes only for my first red-inker of this career.

Having sailed to 47*, my opening partner and I had put 104 on the board in about 17 overs when a spinner lobbed a grenade well outside off stump. I leaned across and took the aerial route, the ball smashed silly point in the head, looped up and landed in the bowlers hands. I had mixed emotions. On one hand I had scored 138 runs in the match, which is a huge leap forward for my career character, but on the other hand I felt like I had been cheated out because silly point should have been wearing a helmet, and if the ball had hit that, I should not have been given out!

Anyway, I'm looking to build on this tonight. I have three matches left in the 5th season, and am averaging over 24 in all three forms. My batsman's skill is improving!

Do you field in the game as well? Or do you just bat and bowl? Are you able to set yourself as a wicket keeper?

Tbh I'm not sure if you can set yourself as wicket keeper, but I prefer to get the game to simulate the innings while fielding until I get asked to bowl. In my next career I might do some wicket keeping if I can choose to do that, but it will slow the game down a lot!

From looking at that it's definitely your bowling that's keeping you in the team Mrgreen

Mind you, you do have a T20 batting index of 175.66, which is pretty good!

I've been wondering whether my player should be keeping his place in the team for the first four years. It would be kind of cool if you had to net a few times before you get a call up into the team, but I guess that would take a lot more work on Big Ant's side.

Earning more XP and moving up the levels is definitely making timing the ball easier, and playing big shots safer than the auto-out they were when I started. I'm averaging 47 in my last 6 innings, so hopefully I'll keep that up for next season too. I have just looked at my selection status screen, and apparently I have been "getting attention" from the Aussie T20 comp Mrgreen

I played the whole T20 section of the English season last night, and am now apparently "Expecting a call up" to the Australian T20 competition, and I am very close to a call up to the Indian T20 comp!

I hope I will get in to those comps so I can earn more XP points and get into the England Test team soon Mrgreen

You're making me want this more and more but I get the feeling I'll have to buy a few controllers in prep for the inevitable fits of unyielding rage. Lol

Two solid bowling performances in the 50 over comp, yielding less than 3 runs per over and collecting 5 wickets.

Then score 3 in the first innings of the next four day match.

I had 3 offers on the table from Australian BBL teams, and accepted the one from Sydney Thunder. The step up from the English T20 is crazy, and I struggled with the bat all through the group stage, scoring about 52 runs in total. In the semi final I slapped a rapid 42, which helped us chase down 203 to win. I returned to my old form in the final and we lost by 3 wickets to Perth Scorchers Sad

I've still not got that elusive hundred in any form of the game yet, but I am becoming more consistent and averaging around the 30 mark in both one day and four day cricket now. Funnily enough, I don't bowl often, but when I do, I take a wicket or two for an economy rate of about 2 rpo. I don't get XP for that though, which I guess is because I didn't put myself as an all rounder?

I've taken my first 5 wicket haul, really love the slower ball and changing of lengths. If you can just get the ball aimed right you really can create a dismissal rather than it just happening.

I'm still terrible at batting, but got myself 30 in our previous 4 day game. Keep plugging away!!

Actually, I think I'll go fire it up now Mrgreen
100 years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like; but the world may be a little better because I was important in the life of a child.

Last night I came in to bat in our one dayer with WA 4/120 against NSW. Adam Voges was already on a solid 30 at the other end so I decided to play anchor. From 2 off 12 balls I started picking the lengths and soon went at nearly a run a ball. After passing our fifty partnership (my first) I started picking up the pace and smashed Doug 'the rug' Bollinger for 14 from one over. Beautiful cut shots were played - no fielders out there - and I moved to 49*, one off my maiden fifty (we'd just passed our 100 partnership too).

Next ball, Hazelwood sends in another short one, I make to cut, it's too close to my body and I edge to the keeper.

Nooooooooooooooo!
